I have to give a talk on the plan of salvation tomorrow in church. Not bad for a last second talk assignment… So, here it is. If you have any more questions, don’t be afraid to ask ^.^

Where do we come from, why are we here, and where we are going are 3 questions that everyone asks themselves at one point or another. These questions can be answered through the plan of salvation, also calls the plan of redemption and plan of mercy.
First, the premortal existence. This is the place where we lived with Heavenly Father in the beginning. Then He presented a plan where everyone could learn from experiences on earth and gain physical bodies. The goal is to become more like Him. Of course none of us will ever be perfect though but we all try our best to be the best we can be. Our brother Jesus volunteered to come down to earth and be our savior so that the atonement could be fulfilled. Likewise, Lucifer also volunteered, but he wanted the glory to himself and wanted to force everyone to make right choices. With satan, there would be no opposition, no right and wrong. We would never learn from mistakes and never gain blessings from making good choices. So of course, we all know that Heavenly Father chose Jesus to come to earth as our Redeemer.
After the premortal existence, we pass through the Veil of forgetfulness. This is why we do not remember anything from when we lives in heaven. It’s so we can start out as a clean slate.
In genesis1:26 it says, And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. We were all created in the image of God and all have flesh and blood as He does when we come to earth.
Here on earth our goals are to have eternal families and to be perfected throught the atonement. We have been given things to help us on earth. Such as the atonement so we can be forgiven of our sins. We have also received the gift of free agency. This means that we are free to choose right from wrong. We aren’t forced to choose one way or another. We are able to learn from our mistakes and gain a personal testimony. The LDS topics article on the Plan of salvation sates that this part of our existence is a time of learning in which we can prove ourselves, choose to come unto Christ, and prepare to be worthy of eternal life. Come unto Christ is the 2014 mutual theme. This applies to the plan because in order to fulfill the plan and return to live with our Heavenly Father, we must do all we can. We must obey his commandments and uphold our standards all the time. Not just when we think people are looking. To come unto Christ, we must personally seek to do good and use our gift of free agency to make good choices. Thes choices include choosing to be baptized when we are eight or even if we are converts. Moses 6: 52 And he also said unto him: If thou wilt turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice, and believe, and repent of all thy transgressions, and be abaptized, even in water, in the name of mine Only Begotten Son, who is full of grace and truth, which is cJesus Christ, the only name which shall be given under heaven, whereby salvation shall come unto the children of men, ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, asking all things in his name, and whatsoever ye shall ask, it shall be given you. Some to ther things are getting sealed in the temple to your family for time and all eternity, take the sacrament to renew our covenants, say personal prayers to keep our relationship with Heavenly Father, and go to church. These are just a few examples of things we can so to come unto him and fulfill the plan.
After we die, our spirit go to heaven and wait for the resurrection when we can be judged and separate into the three kingdoms. Celestial, terrestrial, and telestial kingdoms represented by the sun, the moon, and the stars respectively. The decision of which we will belong to will be based on our acts and desires on earth. So in a sense, our earth life is a test and we should try our hardest to succeed and endure the trials we are given.
We should all be aiming for the celestial kingdom because this is where we can live forever with our family, Heavenly Father and his son Jesus. The second best is the terrestrial kingdom where we will see Jesus, but according to Doctrine and Covenants 76: 77- 78 says: These are they who receive of the apresence of the Son, but not of the fulness of the Father. Wherefore, they areabodies terrestrial, and not bodies celestial, and differ in glory as the moon differs from the sun.The last kingdom is the Telestial kingdom. This kingdom is for people who do not accept the gospel and chooses to disregard christs atonement for us. Doctrine and Covenants 76 says that the people in this kingdom …are they who receive not of his fulness in the eternal world, but of the Holy Spirit through the ministration of the terrestrial. This means that we wont know Heavenly Father or Jesus but we will have the Holy Ghost.
So these are all the steps in heavenly fathers plan for us. Whether we will make it back with him in heaven depends on us. I have a testimony that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind will be resurrected and if we keep God’s commandments, we will also return to live with him and have eternal life.
I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
